It has come to my attention that several of my photos were processed in the editing bay via generative artificial intelligence.

These images were edited using a de-noise feature I assumed was a function akin to the simple “auto adjust” options which have existed in photo editing programs for decades. I have since learned that – despite not being labeled as such in any way, shape, or form – this tool is built entirely on generative AI.

I’ve stated time and again that Camitarium is an endeavor that shall be 100% free of generative AI technologies, without exception. This misunderstanding of my editing software, even if I wasn’t aware of it, means I have broken that rule. This is a grave error that I fully own up to, and will commit myself to fixing.

I don’t want my photographs to feature even the smallest amount of pixels shoved into haphazard existence by an algorithm, because those pixels are ultimately a digital hallucination, one that blatantly misrepresents the photo I actually took in far worse a fashion than any color change or white balance adjustment ever could. Publishing a photograph of something some robot puked out that doesn’t actually exist, no matter how inconsequential, is to me an act of great artistic dishonesty, and I don’t want my art to lie to you.

While thankfully not all of my photographs were affected by this, to ensure all traces of generative AI are removed from Camitarium, all published images are being taken down and my website is going offline. I don’t care if I have to re-edit every single picture again to ensure that they’re free of this technological filth, and I don’t care how long that process takes. I’m sticking to what I believe in.
